Reed graduated from UC Santa Cruz in the Fall of 2020 with a B.S. in Environmental Science and minor in Legal Studies. Since graduating, Reed worked for the USGS’s California Water Science Center in their biogeochemistry group and is currently working for the State Water Resources Control Board’s Division of Water Quality in their industrial and construction stormwater regulatory unit. Dr. Frances Wilkerson will be his academic advisor and mentor, so he will be working in the Wilkerson/Dugdale lab conducting research involving the response of phytoplankton to mesoscale perturbations in nitrogen and phosphorous loads in the SF Bay and Estuary. In his free time, Reed enjoys being outdoors, whether it’s backpacking, mountain biking, surfing, or kayaking. He also plays video games and watches basketball, baseball, and hockey.
