Tessa Filipczyk

After receiving my BS in Marine & Coastal Science from UC Davis in 2020, I spent a year & a half working at a small tech startup in San Francisco while I applied to marine science graduate programs. I am taking valuable skills, a network of amazing people, and a new perspective of the tech industry in the Bay Area with me from this experience which I hope to utilize throughout my time in the IMES program. As an undergraduate researcher, I studied the relationship between clam harvesting and organic carbon storage in eelgrass beds in Bodega Harbor. I look to continue Blue Carbon research that focuses on the potential differences in carbon storage between restored eelgrass beds and natural eelgrass beds in the San Francisco Bay.
